
Brian Leach earned a B.S. in Math and Computer Science from Emory University and a M.S. in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. Brian began his career at Harris as a Software Engineer, where he evaluated early DOS versions of Microsoft Project and Primavera before developing a custom scheduling application used internally by Harris.
He led a team at Motorola to develop the operating system for the Motorola PageWriter 2000, which was selected for the permanent collection of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History as the world’s first two-way text messaging and wireless email device.
He founded Steelray Software in 2000 and developed the first viewer for Microsoft Project. In 2007, he created the first schedule quality software product for Microsoft Project. He and his team developed the first commercial implementation of the DCMA 14-point assessment.
During his career, he has presented schedule visualization and analysis topics at more than 100 conferences and evangelized best scheduling practices.
More recently, he led his team in developing software to automate a half-step delay analysis, based on AACEI RP 29R-03 MIP 3.4. The software includes the first animated Gantt showing a half-step delay analysis as it progresses through the update period. He continues to lead a team of computer scientists and schedule experts at Steelray.
Brian lives in Atlanta, Georgia, with his wife. He enjoys playing guitar in bands and poker in casino poker rooms.
